* Leonard Sowah created history by becoming the first player
born after the Premier League was established to have started in a top-flight match.

* The grounding of all flights to Britain meant Kevin-Prince Boateng had to drive back from Germany to play in the match. Frederic Piquionne, whose wife has recently given birth, was unable to return from France in time.

Another defensive error. This time midfielder Stiliyan Petrov is brought down - and Aston Villa are awarded a 34th minute penalty.

Pompey on their way to their first win at Villa Park since January 1970, here celebrating following a ninth minute own goal from Craig Gardner.

Villa 'keeper Scott Carson is beaten all-ends-up by Sulley Muntari's stunning 25-yard drive after 40 mins. 2-0 to Pompey.

And as if that's not enough, Muntari repeats the feat after 61 mins with possibly an even better goal from a similar range.
