Pompey relegated to the Championship

Since winning promotion to the Premiership in Season 2002/03, Pompey had finished 13th, 16th, 17th, 9th, 8th and 14th as well as winning the FA Cup of course and playing in Europe.

It's the first time Pompey have suffered a drop in twenty-two years, finishing third-bottom in the old Division I in the 1987/88 campaign.
