Lomana LuaLua has completed his move to Olympiakos, signing a three-year deal with the Greek club.

The Congo striker has been unsettled at Fratton for sometime and, acording to the Greek press, Pompey have received a fee of around 4.4 million euros - equivalent to nearly £3 million. The transfer has been confirmed on the Greek club's official website.

The Sunday tabloids are heavily touting Nicolas Anelka as his replacement.

The Bolton striker apparently has a £9 million release clause in his contract and Pompey are reportedly 'ready' to invoke that.

He had been linked with moves to Arsenal and Manchester United as those clubs struggled to get their first choice signings.

However, with Carlos Tevez finally signed at Old Trafford and the work permit obtained for the Croatian of Brazilian extract Eduardo da Silva at the Emirates, Anelka's options have narrowed.

Whether he could be persuaded to move to Pompey is a moot point, but the competition for him might not be as fierce as first imagined now.

Other irons in the fire include Yakubu from Middlesbrough, Fredi Kanouté from Sevilla and the ever-present Jermain Defoe, who was only on the bench for Spurs yesterday.
